April 1, 2011
Today was the start of Phase III of our Habitat for Humanity Coast to Coast Walk. We have returned to the spot where Phase II ended, 10 miles east of Vernon, Texas on the Texas/Oklahoma state line. Ruth and Carol took us out this morning and John and I walked 10 miles. Not bad for the first day.
This is farm and cattle country. Last years fields of cotton and wheat and this years fields of hay and some unknown yellow plant. If anyone knows what it is, please tell us.
The day started by John telling us that our neighbors in Hot Springs called and said that the back window of our house was broken and that someone tried to get in. He called back just a few minutes later and said "April Fools". Carol asked him if he had ever heard of the expression, "payback".
I found a nickel and John found a golf ball. A productive day. Stay tuned .....
